The Adidas x Yeezy, a sneaker that every shoe fanatic would want in his collection. The funny thing is that Kanye West, the designer of the Yeezy shoe, first teamed up with Adidas' major competitor Nike in 2009. The most expensive Yeezy at the moment is the Nike Air Yeezy 1 Grammy Prototype. These shoes were worn at the 2008 Grammys by Kanye West himself and auctioned for a jaw-dropping $1.8 million at Sotheby's.
Why did Kanye West go over to the major competitor Adidas? Nike would not pay royalties to Kanye West for his sneaker designs. Kanye West also did not have full control over the creative process, Kanye West got all this at Adidas and that is how the collaboration between the two started in 2013.
The successful collaboration
On June 25, 2015, the first shoe was released in collaboration with Kanye West and Adidas called the Yeezy Boost 350. From this series, the Yeezy Boost 350 'Turtle Dove' was a favorite among sneaker enthusiasts and is now known as the most iconic of the Yeezy 350 series.

The collaboration between Kanye West and Adidas ended in October 2022. This is due to the recent anti-Semitic statements that the American rapper has posted on his Instagram and this is something that Adidas certainly does not tolerate. This ensures that no more products will be released under the Yeezy line and no more payments will be made to Kanye West and his company. Since May 2023 Adidas has been selling left over stock of the yeezy sneakers and they've donated the proceeds to charities that put effort in fighting antisemitism, racism, hate and discrimination.
